Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Tunnel Engineer to contribute to trenchless and tunnel design projects across North America and beyond. You will participate from concept through construction, collaborating with geotechnical and tunnel teams on large civil projects, and mentoring junior staff.

You will apply soil/rock mechanics, deep foundations, and supporting design to projects with fieldwork, design calculations, and construction documentation in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years experience in Tunnels, Trenchless, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, geotechnical design, and team collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred for Geotechnical specialization.

Responsibilities

• Participate in field assignments: soil/rock borings, CPTs, tests, instrumentation, and inspection.
• Travel to locations within the USA and globally.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across teams.
• Design deep foundations, ground improvements, trenchless installations, and tunneling in soil and rock.
• Review construction submittals and prepare design drawings and specs.
• Use engineering software to perform analyses and generate calculations.
