Job summary

Lucix Corporation, an HEICO subsidiary, seeks an experienced Tune and Test Technician in California to support RF modules and assemblies for satellite payloads. You will tune and test amplifiers, filters, mixers, and oscillators up to 40 GHz, performing environmental tests and ensuring accuracy of microwave measurements.

Responsibilities include configuring tests like 1dB compression, PSAT, and s-parameters, and tuning hybrid circuits using wedge bond and PCB techniques.

Qualifications

  • AA degree in electronics or equivalent; 5+ years on‑the‑job experience.
  • Strong knowledge of microwave theory and application.
  • Strong knowledge of Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's laws.
  • Familiar with coaxial and waveguide connectors and their characteristics.
  • Experience with HI-REL hardware materials, processes, and assembly techniques.
  • Ability to read schematics, assembly and wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Test and align RF amplifiers, filters, mixers, oscillators, and converters up to 40 GHz.
  • Environmental testing including vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC tests.
  • Configure tests (1dB compression, C/IM3, noise figure, PSAT, harmonics, s-parameters, k‑factor, spurious).
  • Tune hybrid microwave circuits and modules using wedge bond and gap weld technology.
  • Tune PCB microwave circuits; troubleshoot DUTs and test stations to component level.
  • Propose ideas to improve tuning efficiency and repeatability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Lucix also provides RF hardware for Airborne and Ground Systems. All hardware is designed, qualified, manufactured, tested, and shipped from Lucix facilities in California, USA.

We are seeking an experienced Tune and Test Technicianwith an understanding of microwave test techniques and equipment, with a broad understanding of modules such as amplifiers, filters, synthesizers, mixers, and plexers in the 5 MHz to 50 GHz frequency range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Test and align (Tune) RF amplifiers (LNAs/SSPAs), Filters, Mixers, Oscillators, and Converters up to 40 GHz
  • Testing includes environmental tests such as vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC tests both on and offsite
  • Configure and perform tests including (but not limited to) 1dB compression (P-1), C/IM3, noise figure, PSAT, harmonics, continuous monitoring, s- parameters, k-factor, and spurious
  • Tune hybrid microwave circuits and modules using wedge bond and gap weld technology
  • Tune PC board based microwave circuits
  • Troubleshoot DUTs and test stations down to the component level
  • Perform all relevant testing
  • Propose ideas to improve efficiency and repeatability for tuning
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • AA degree in electronics or equivalent on the job experience of 5+ years
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of microwave theory and application
  • Strong knowledge of Ohm’s Law and Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law
  • Strong knowledge of coaxial and waveguide connector sizes and their characteristics
  • General knowledge of materials, processes, and assembly techniques used for HI-REL hardware, and have good mechanical skills
  • General understanding the challenges and techniques of tuning using hybrid and PCB microwave circuits, to include Wedge Bond, Ball Bond, and Soldering
  • Familiar with the various test equipment, including but not limited to: power meter, PNA-X, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, phase noise analyzer, and strip chart recorders
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to present problem solving strategies
  • Must be able to read schematics, assembly and wiring diagrams, process and parts specifications, and test procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Teams
Preferred Requirements:
  • Ability to differentiate between DUT and equipment failures
  • Proficient knowledge of RF Power and necessary precautions and set-up
  • Previous experience with Bench and ATE construction and troubleshooting
  • Ability and willingness to help train fellow technicians
