Job summary

Host Crewing, LLC seeks a Push boat Captain for United Bulk Terminals in Davant to manage safe navigation and crew leadership on tug operations. You will supervise deckhands, coordinate dockings, and maintain records with HELM while complying with USCG standards.

The role requires a 200 Ton inland Master license with towing and radar endorsement, TWIC, and the ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must hold valid 200 Ton Master inland license with towing and radar endorsement.
  • TWIC is required.
  • US Driver’s License is required.
  • Experience as Master of a twin-screw tug engaged in fleet work.
  • Excellent communication with crew, shore staff, and clients via VHF, email, or mobile.
  • Ability to work across varied schedules, holidays, weekends.
  • Proficient with HELM and Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and reliable daily operation of their tug.
  • Serve as primary tug vessel operator, safely maneuvering tug and barge(s) throughout the UBT fleet.
  • Direct deckhands in docking & undocking maneuvers.
  • Maintain tug records including vessel logbook and HELM.
  • Coordinate and conduct scheduled drills with tug, crew and port captain.
  • Ensure vessels are always clean and well maintained.
  • Ensure daily barge inspection/checklists are performed and logged in HELM.
  • Prepare for and participate in USCG internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate between boat and shore side staff for safe barge movements.
  • Manage deck side consumable and spare part requests.
