Job summary

Challenger Turf is seeking a Tufting Machine Operator to join our production team in Dalton, GA. The role involves operating tufting equipment, loading creels, and ensuring product quality throughout the process.

You will verify specifications, perform weight checks on initial rolls, and communicate any mechanical or material issues to supervision. A strong emphasis on safety and accuracy is required in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of tufting machine operator experience.
• Bilingual in English and another language.

Responsibilities

• Confirm specifications of finished product during production
• Obtain weight check for first roll of every order
• Hang and tie or splice fiber into creel
• Rotate fiber tubes to maximize creel loads
• Assists in decreeling machines, or removing spent fiber tubes and packaging fiber and dunnage
• Identify non-conforming fibers and materials to maintain product efficacy
• Identify product defects such as streaks, high/low lines, loops, or missing ends
• Use mending gun to repair turf rolls
• Operate rollup
• Operate tufting machine without direct supervision
• Ensure order needs are met
• Post transactions in NAV
• Doff and label finished rolls
• Notify maintenance and Supervisor of issues
• Notify Quality Control of deficiencies
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Job description

The Tufting Machine Operator position is a tufting team member who operates a tufting machine and directs assigned Creeler 1, Creeler 2, and/or Tufting Operator 1 personnel during tufting production.

Description

• Confirm specifications of the finished product during production

• Hang and tie or splice fiber into creel
• Rotate small and large fiber tubes as needed to maximize creel loads (cutbacks)
• Assists in decreeling machines, or removing spent fiber tubes and packaging fiber and dunnage from the creel
• Assists in identifying non-conforming fibers and materials to maintain product efficacy
• Identify streaks, high lines, low lines, loops, missing ends, or other deficiencies in turf products
• Using mending gun to repair turf rolls
• Operate rollup
• Operates tufting machine without direct supervision
• Ensure order needs are met
• Post transactions in NAV
• Doff and label finished rolls
• Notify maintenance and Supervisor of any mechanical or product issues
• Notify Quality Control of any product deficiencies
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications

• Current operator experience 2-5 years required
• Must be bilingual
