Job summary

Tarkett is seeking a tufting machine operator to run equipment, load styles from the computer system, and ensure first-quality output with no defects. The role emphasizes safety, paperwork accuracy, and routine checks to verify backing and machine data.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Experience operating tufting machines is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to distinguish yarn color shades by sight.
  • Basic math skills are required (addition/subtraction).
  • Ability to bend, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for entire 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tufting machine and load styles from computer.
  • Verify information on paperwork matches the computer records.
  • Conduct machine setup checks including motors and backing verification.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure defect-free product.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area and follow safety guidelines.
  • Assist with yarn handling tasks such as pulling cones and winding yarn as needed.

Job description

Operates tufting machine including threading needles and backing changes. Responsible for running first quality product with no defects such as mends, high or low lines, or crossed ends. Must be able to load styles on the computer and verify the information matches the paperwork. Must be able to effectively use air splicer Conducts machine set up checks (checking scroll motors, backing verification, and all items on the paperwork and computer). Performs quality inspection during production runs ensuring there are no defects Housekeeping of area throughout the shift. Ensures compliance to all company and regulatory safety and environmental guidelines and practices to include wearing the appropriate safety PPE, using the appropriate tools and equipment, and exercising the required safety behaviors for the task at hand. Performs other duties as required At times other tasks besides operating the machine will be required such as pulling cones of yarns from shelves, winding yarn, checking yarn colors, using compressed air to blow yarn into a cradle by reading a diagram for yarn placement

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong attendance and punctuality required.
  • Prior experience operating tufting machines strongly preferred.
  • Ability to see off shade of color yarns
  • Read and write in Standard English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to bend, pull and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand or be on feet four 8 hours
