Job summary

Low Voltage Contractors (LVC) is seeking a Technical Services Specialist for our B shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM CST) in Minnesota. You will provide hands-on, remote, and in-person technical assistance in security and technology to project managers, sales teams, technicians, subcontractors, LSPs, and customers during the evening shift.

Responsibilities include LSP coordination, QA/QC review, national project support, and performing installations and commissioning outside pledged union jurisdictions.

Qualifications

About You

We are looking for a Technical Services Specialist for our B shift (3:00PM - 11:00PM CST) who will provide hands-on, written, remote, and in-person technical assistance in security and technology to project managers, sales team, technicians, subcontractors, Local Service Providers (LSP), and customers during the assigned evening shift. Technical assistance ranges from troubleshooting field devices to assisting in system programming. This position provides coverage with a focus on checking LSPs in and out, providing QA/QC review, supporting active national projects, assisting with remote troubleshooting, and completing proper handoff of open items to daytime operations. Perform installations and commissioning outside of pledged union jurisdictions.

Compensation/Benefits

Annual compensation ranging from $56,160 - $74,880 depending on qualifications. A full benefits package which includes Health, Dental, Vision, Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement Savings Plan, ESOP, FSA, LegalShield, Employee Assistance Program, PTO and Holiday pay.

Essential Functions
LSP Coordination and Check In/Out
  • Check Local Service Providers (LSPs) in and out for assigned evening work, confirming arrival, departure, site access, and work status.
  • Validate LSP scope progress, collect key field updates, and document blockers, material needs, safety concerns, or customer-impacting issues.
  • Coordinate escalations and handoffs when LSP work cannot be completed during the assigned shift.
QA/QC Support
  • Review completed work, service notes, photos, programming details, and closeout information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide quality control feedback to technicians, subcontractors, and LSPs to ensure work aligns with LVC standards, customer expectations, and project requirements.
  • Identify repeat issues, documentation gaps, and service delivery risks, and elevate findings to the appropriate Technical Services or project leadership contact.
National Project Support
  • Provide evening coverage for national account project activity, including remote technical support, work status validation, troubleshooting assistance, and project documentation updates.
  • Support project managers, coordinators, technicians, subcontractors, and sales teams by helping keep active national project work moving after standard business hours.
  • Assist with turnover notes, punch list documentation, remote programming support, and customer-impacting issue tracking for national service and project work.
Project Support
  • Collaborate closely with on-site technicians, either remotely or on-site, to execute security and technology projects from a programming and technical perspective.
  • Develop and design installation documents to effectively communicate the scope of work, skillset, tools required, programming instructions, and other execution-related details for technicians and subcontractors in security and technology installations.
  • Assemble, program, and perform quality control tests on security and technology equipment prior to installation.
Service Support
  • Remotely resolve service issues related to security and technology systems during the assigned evening shift.
  • Collaborate closely with on-site technicians and LSPs to effectively address service-related issues in security and technology.
  • Patch/update pre-scheduled client systems in the realm of security and technology when assigned.
General
  • Provide phone support to clients, technicians, subcontractors, and LSPs for security and technology issues.
  • Perform remote VPN programming and troubleshooting for security and technology systems.
  • Maintain manufacturer certifications in all security and technology products required to support the business.
Other
  • Provide technical systems training, mentoring, and instruction to internal staff, external customers, technicians, subcontractors, and LSPs
  • Provide shift handoff notes for open service, project, QA/QC, and LSP items requiring next-day follow-up
  • Ability to travel as needed/directed
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain LVC line card manufacturer certifications
  • Understanding of low voltage system integration (video surveillance, intrusion, access control, data cabling and fire)
  • Understanding of network technology integration with low voltage systems
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Minimum five years of experience in installing and troubleshooting video surveillance and card access systems
  • Prior technical service, remote support, LSP/vendor coordination, QA/QC, or after-hours escalation experience preferred
  • Technical school degree preferred
  • National account or multi-site project support experience rpeferred
  • Strong familiarity with industry best practices
  • Strong construction background
  • Excellent reconciliation, logistical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively interpret general technical documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups
  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, personable and well-organized
  • Superior customer service skills with internal and external customers
