Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a VDI Engineer for government sectors to design, deploy, and tune Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler across large enterprise environments. You will work on Azure Virtual Desktop, on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid solutions, interfacing with government stakeholders to resolve technical issues and achieve ATO readiness.

You will implement automation via PowerShell or Python, provide Tier 3 support, and maintain comprehensive documentation for VDI projects and processes.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance required.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP).
• Experience in design, development, deployment and testing of desktop virtualization infrastructure.
• Expertise with Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and NetScaler in large enterprise settings.
• Proficiency with Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows Server environments.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for automation and ops.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, design, test, implement, maintain and secure the full lifecycle of Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions.
• Support large enterprise VDI environments and coordinate with Government stakeholders on technical decisions.
• Design and support MS infrastructure including Azure Virtual Desktop, on‑prem, cloud and hybrid architectures.
• Provide Tier 3+ troubleshooting, RCA, and documentation for VDI solutions and processes.
• Manage Citrix products (Virtual Apps/Desktops, ADC) and Azure Virtual Desktops in production.
• Develop and execute PowerShell/Python scripts to automate tasks and improve reliability.

As a VDI Engineer supporting the Government, you will be trusted to engineer new and improved enhancements for existing and emerging virtual desktop technologies.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Engineering, designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and managing the full life cycle of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed
• in the large Enterprise environment
• Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid
• Interacting with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts
• Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions
• Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning)
• Managing Azure products (Azure Virtual Desktops)
• Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python
• Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA))
• Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects

Skills and Requirements

• Active TS/SCI with active CI Polygraph
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP)
• Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and
• deployment technologies
• Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM)
• Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover
• Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures
• Expertise in the Windows 10/11 – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
• Experience with Remote Desktop Service (RDS) on Windows Server 2019/2022
• Ability to deploy Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) on Windows Server 2019/2022
