Job summary

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) seeks a Plume Modeling Analyst to perform physics-based plume and infrared signature analysis for defense-related programs.

You will apply modeling codes, analyze sensor data, and document methodologies and findings for technical assessments. The role requires a minimum of five years in scientific modeling or related fields, excellent quantitative skills, and the ability to communicate complex results in formal reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (physics, aerospace/mechanical engineering, applied math, or computational science).
• At least five years in scientific modeling, simulation, infrared signature analysis, or computational physics.
• Ability to interpret empirical data and communicate findings via technical reports.
• Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities with clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Apply plume modeling codes and tools to analyze missile plumes and infrared signatures.
• Analyze empirical sensor data and modeled outputs to characterize infrared phenomena.
• Compare model predictions with observations and assess performance and uncertainties.
• Develop technical reports and data packages documenting methods, results, and conclusions.
• Evaluate modeling tools against government analytical requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve modeling approaches and supporting products.
• Collaborate with engineering, scientific, and intelligence teams on complex problems.
• Maintain documentation of procedures, inputs, outputs, and results.
