Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Field Service Technician to support a contract onsite in Washington, DC. This role handles installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Layer 1 structured cabling for network infrastructure and end-user devices.

Ideal candidates have hands-on copper and fiber cabling experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments. Travel to customer sites is required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of equipment installation experience; 4 years may substitute for degree.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, label, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic).
• Provide patch panel, rack, and cable tray installation and testing support.
• Perform cable certification and testing using appropriate equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve physical connectivity issues.
• Read and interpret network diagrams and layouts.
• Maintain documentation of installations and service work.
• Travel to customer sites as required.
• Provide professional communication and support to clients and internal teams.
