Job summary

FLASH Technology Group in Laurel, MD is seeking an Application Engineer IV with active TS/SCI and polygraph to support Linux VM environments and DevOps tasks. The role involves hands-on management of VMs, Kubernetes clusters, and automation tooling within secure federal contracting settings.

You will collaborate with development teams to deploy, monitor, and harden systems, respond to incidents, and implement security and compliance controls across OpenStack, AWS, and on-prem platforms.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting experience with VM, app logs, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong Linux skills (RHEL 8/9).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher for container workloads.
• Familiarity with Apache NiFi or similar data integration tools.
• Working knowledge of Ansible for automation.
• Hands-on experience managing VMs in OpenStack, VMware, or AWS.
• Ability to troubleshoot SSH, performance, and network issues in Linux.
• Experience applying security hardening (STIG, SSP) and maintaining compliance docs.
• Experience with network flow monitoring tools.
• Active Security+ certification.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Server Certificate life cycle management and VM health monitoring across platforms.
• Manage production Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters.
• Maintain Ansible playbooks and monitor clusters via Rancher or Kubernetes commands.
• Troubleshoot production Linux VMs and Kubernetes clusters.
• Support Apache NiFi deployments and resolve connectivity issues.
• Manage certificate lifecycle and ensure security/compliance standards (STIG/SSP).
• Perform software updates, patching, and system hardening via YUM.
• Collaborate with development and end users for operational support and complex builds.
• Analyze logs and diagnose VM/container/application performance issues.
