Job summary

LMI Government Consulting in the McLean/Reston area seeks a senior data scientist and data engineer to join the research staff. You will deliver data science products through ingestion, analytics, and dashboards, applying NLP and ML techniques with NiFi, Python, and diverse data stores.

The role requires 6–8 years of experience, a TS/SCI with polygraph, and strong collaboration with sponsors and stakeholders to turn complex data into actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and TS/SCI with polygraph.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience with Python programming.
• Experience with Linux and bash scripting.
• Experience creating multi-data source queries using PostgreSQL, MySQL, Neo4J or RDS.
• Experience building data pipelines with NiFi and data engineering concepts.
• Ability to communicate results to sponsors and stakeholders in writing and briefs.
• Version control with Git and storytelling with Jupyter Notebooks.
• Familiarity with Elastic and Kibana to visualize data.
• Knowledge of ML/NLP techniques and end-to-end data science workflows.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to review data science requirements.
• Engage with sponsors to gather present and future data needs.
• Develop data pipelines and REST APIs to support analytics.
• Build data science products with Python, including notebooks and microservices.
• Design scalable data ingestion and storage architectures.
• Provide written and verbal briefings and traceability across documents.
• Deliver results to stakeholders with clear documentation.
