Armstrong Teasdale LLP seeks a lateral Trusts & Estates Associate in our St. Louis office to join the Corporate Services Group. The role offers exposure to sophisticated estate planning and administration matters and collaboration with experienced lawyers.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years’ experience in complex estate, tax, and wealth planning, a JD, and eligibility to practice law. A tax-focused LLM is a plus; strong communication and client service skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor is required and must be in good standing to practice law.
  • LLM in Taxation is a plus for the role.
  • 3+ years’ experience in complex estate, tax and wealth planning matters, including drafting and implementing estate planning documents.

Responsibilities

  • Simultaneously handles the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages from inception to conclusion.
  • Communicates effectively with attorneys and clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Works independently and shows a strong interest in advancing a career in estate planning and administration.
  • Produces high-quality legal work and bills the required hours to ensure excellent client services.
  • Demonstrates some success in business management and/or business generation through individual or group efforts.

Armstrong Teasdale is seeking a lateral associate with trusts & estates expertise to join its Corporate Services Group as a Trusts & Estates Associate in our St. Louis office.

Associates have an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team where they will be able to take on learn from and work closely with energetic, highly experienced legal practitioners in a friendly, collaborative environment.

Required Education

Juris Doctor

Preferred Education

LLM in Taxation is a plus

Required Licenses and/or Certifications

Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements.

Required Experience

3+ years’ experience in complex estate, tax and wealth planning matters, including but not limited to: developing, drafting and implementing estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, advance directives and powers of attorney; preparation, review, and analysis of tax forms, including income tax returns, gift tax returns and estate tax returns, and; business succession planning. Prior experience working at a law firm is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Indirect - actively utilizes support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction.

Physical Activity

The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer.

Travel Required

Less than 10%
