Overview

We’re hiring on behalf of a well-respected legal practice in Hartford that specializes in estate planning, probate, and real estate law. This firm is known for its client-focused approach, collaborative culture, and dedication to ethical legal service. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and client-driven attorney to join their estate planning team.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney with 1–2+ years of experience in estate planning and probate, who is confident drafting legal instruments such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. You should be comfortable working closely with clients, managing sensitive matters with empathy, and navigating the civil litigation process when necessary. This position offers a manageable caseload, mentorship from senior attorneys, and a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and file estate planning documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
• Guide clients on topics such as asset protection, charitable giving, insurance planning, and retirement strategies
• Manage approximately 50 active cases to start, scaling up based on complexity and experience
• Represent clients in uncontested court proceedings, with the option to litigate where appropriate
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and paralegals to manage matters from intake through resolution
• Conduct legal research and draft persuasive motions, pleadings, and briefs
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date client files and case documentation
• Help communicate and implement strategy for each matter to clients and legal team
  
  

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and member in good standing with the state bar
• At least 1–2 years of experience in estate planning, probate, or related legal fields
• Familiarity with real estate topics such as title insurance, property management, and litigation
• Courtroom experience and understanding of civil litigation process preferred
• High emotional intelligence and ability to guide clients through sensitive, emotional discussions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical legal practice
