Job summary

Nelson Truss, a family-owned truss design and manufacturing company in Wisconsin, is hiring Yard Staff for first shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) with likely overtime during busy season.

This role supports unloading and loading trucks, moving lumber, and operating the forklift in the yard. You will read engineered drawings, use tape measures and power tools, and work as part of a team to keep the yard safe and organized.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in the truss or related building trades industry.
• Ability to read and follow engineered drawings.
• Basic arithmetic and calculator use.
• Proficient forklift operation and lumber handling.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Move, stack, and handle finished trusses and lumber.
• Help unload and load trucks.
• Manage the truss stacker.
• Operate forklift to move lumber carts.
• Mark trusses with tag numbers.
• Tie truss batches with metal straps.
• Maintain yard cleanliness and safety.
• Support Saw Catcher and Saw Picker as backup.
