Job summary

PARR is seeking a Truss Builder to manufacture roof and floor trusses in our yard. You will use a framing hammer, electric saw and pneumatic nail gun to assemble lumber and ensure quality products leave the yard defect-free.

The role reports to the Ops Lead/Production Manager and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including vacation, 401(k) with match, profit sharing, tuition reimbursement, and footwear subsidy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow safety procedures.
  • Reliable transportation and footwear safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials for damage prior to use (cracks, wane, mold, sun damage, etc.).
  • Assist with unloading precut lumber and position for truss fabrication.
  • Fabricate trusses with lumber, nail plates, and a hammer; ensure joints are tight.
  • Verify quality of trusses and prevent defects before delivery to customers.
  • Maintain workspace cleanliness and safety practices; complete daily workload.

Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products.Pay: $19.15-$21.23 hourlyThe Truss Builder’s main responsibility is using hammer and nail plates to manufacture roof and floor trusses. Truss Builders are responsible for the quality and accuracy of the trusses they assemble and work closely with the Sawyer and the Truss Stacker to ensure quality product is being used and trusses are free of defects before they leave the yard to be delivered to customers.This position reports to the Ops Lead, Production Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, or Plant Manager. This position supports our mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork by providing our customers with manufactured products free of defects and built out of properly graded wood and steel.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferredMust be able to use a framing hammer, electric saw, pneumatic nail gun, and any other equipment necessary for the jobAbility to read a tape measureMust have reliable transportationShoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, and made of leather or composite material requiredDuties and ResponsibilitiesInspect materials for damage prior to use (cracks in the boards, too much wane, mold, sun damage, etc.)Assist with unloading precut lumber from saws to building station, placing them in a specified position to increase efficiency while fabricating trussesUse pull sheets to grab the correct amount of nail plates needed for the current batch of trusses being builtFabricate trusses by placing lumber onto the fabrication table and assembling them together using nail plates and a hammerEnsure the quality of trusses by following standard procedures (all products are manufactured with tight joints, no material defects, and plates positioned properly)Works at a good steady pace with a sense of urgencyQuality of work is accurateComes to work property attired and well-groomed with good hygieneHelps in overall cleanliness of the locationHas minimal product damage as well as minimal rebuildsAssists in making sure the day's workload is completed before leavingPerform other related duties as assignedWorking ConditionsThis position works in a warehouse in all weather conditions.
