Job summary

Carolina Casualty, a Berkley Company, is seeking an Underwriter to growth and profitability through effective risk selection, pricing, and account management. Remote work may be possible for highly qualified candidates outside commuting distance.

The role requires 3+ years of Commercial Trucking experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in insurance. Location options include Jacksonville, FL with a hybrid schedule and travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Commercial Trucking experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in insurance experience. (Insurance designations a plus)

Responsibilities

• Review new and renewal commercial insurance risks and determine accurate classification, forms, and pricing.
• Review risk information such as MVRs, loss runs, and financial statements.
• Manage the book of business for an assigned agency territory to meet premium and profitability goals.
• Conduct audits on agency business and ensure underwriting best practices.
• Communicate underwriting philosophy to agencies and cultivate relationships.
• Provide guidance to Assistant Underwriters on coverages, endorsements, and non-renewal actions.
• Assist in developing new products, coverage enhancements, and procedures that drive efficiency.
