Job summary

Walmart in Robinson, TX seeks a skilled Trailer Refrigeration Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on TRUs, trailers, and tractors in our fleet.

You will work with a team to ensure safety, comply with DOT regulations, document work orders, and support equipment reliability. EPA 608 certification and a valid CDL are required or preferred; EPA and DOT compliance emphasized.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (diagnostic and component replacement)
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25
• Vehicle inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on TRUs following OEM procedures.
• Maintain and repair trailers and components including electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interiors, roofs and doors.
• Service and repair tractor-trailer braking systems (hydraulic, air, ABS/EBS).
• Perform tire services including installation, removal, repairs, balancing, and axle alignment.
• Receive fuel deliveries, conduct fuel sampling, monitor levels and ensure safety compliance.
• Process warranty repairs and claims with accurate documentation and submission.
• Diagnose equipment issues, order parts, and maintain tractors, trailers, forklifts, shop equipment, and service vehicles.
• Complete work orders and logs while complying with DOT regulations.
• Collaborate with technicians to maintain equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) following OEM procedures, including refrigeration systems, electrical systems, climate control systems, APUs, heaters, A/C units, and trailer refrigeration components.
• Maintain and repair trailers, including electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roofs, flooring, doors, thresholds, and tire seals.
• Service and repair tractor-trailer braking systems (hydraulic, air, ABS/EBS), including inspections, adjustments, and component replacement.
• Perform tire services, including installation, removal, flat repairs, balancing, and advanced axle alignments using electronic alignment equipment.
• Receive fuel deliveries, conduct fuel sampling, monitor fuel levels, ensure safety compliance, and complete required documentation.
• Process warranty repairs and claims, including accurate documentation, tagging, parts retention, and claim submission.
• Diagnose equipment issues, identify repair solutions, order parts, and perform maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, shop equipment, service vehicles, air compressors, and other fleet equipment.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, logs, and documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
• Collaborate with and support fellow technicians to maintain equipment reliability and operational excellence.

Pay & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $34.15–$37.65/hour, plus applicable premiums ranging from $0.35–$3.00/hour based on schedule, facility, season, or work performed.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (e.g. diagnostic and component replacement)
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification

• Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
• Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Preferred Qualifications

• Both Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) driver's certification.
• Maintaining tractors and trailers (e.g., preventative maintenance, repairs)
• Thermo King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech or equivalent
• Using computer applications (e.g. email, spreadsheets, word processing)
• ASE Certification - Certification
