Job summary

Walmart in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Trailer Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on TRUs, trailers, and tractor-trailer braking systems. You will service refrigeration units, HVAC, electrical wiring, and safety gear while documenting work orders and DOT compliance.

You have 3 years in trailer refrigeration maintenance, EPA 608, a valid state license, and DOT brake/inspection qualifications.

Qualifications

• 3 years' experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (e.g. diagnostic and component replacement)
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification
• Valid state-issued driver's license
• Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
• Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on TRUs and trailer refrigeration components, including electrical systems, climate control, APUs, heaters, A/C units.
• Maintain and repair trailers (electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interiors, roofs, flooring, doors, thresholds, tire seals).
• Service and repair tractor-trailer braking systems (hydraulic, air, ABS/EBS); inspections, adjustments, replacements.
• Perform tire services: installation, removal, flat repairs, balancing, and advanced axle alignments using electronic alignment equipment.
• Receive fuel deliveries, conduct sampling, monitor fuel levels, ensure safety, complete required documentation.
• Process warranty repairs and claims with accurate documentation and tagging.
• Diagnose equipment issues, order parts, and maintain tractors, trailers, forklifts, shop equipment, service vehicles, air compressors, and fleet gear.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, logs, and documentation; comply with company policies and DOT regulations.
• Collaborate with technicians to maintain equipment reliability and operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) following OEM procedures, including refrigeration systems, electrical systems, climate control systems, APUs, heaters, A/C units, and trailer refrigeration components.
• Maintain and repair trailers, including electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roofs, flooring, doors, thresholds, and tire seals.
• Service and repair tractor-trailer braking systems (hydraulic, air, ABS/EBS), including inspections, adjustments, and component replacement.
• Perform tire services, including installation, removal, flat repairs, balancing, and advanced axle alignments using electronic alignment equipment.
• Receive fuel deliveries, conduct fuel sampling, monitor fuel levels, ensure safety compliance, and complete required documentation.
• Process warranty repairs and claims, including accurate documentation, tagging, parts retention, and claim submission.
• Diagnose equipment issues, identify repair solutions, order parts, and perform maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, shop equipment, service vehicles, air compressors, and other fleet equipment.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, logs, and documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
• Collaborate with and support fellow technicians to maintain equipment reliability and operational excellence.

Pay & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $34.15-$37.65/hour, plus applicable premiums ranging from $0.35-$3.00/hour based on schedule, facility, season, or work performed.

Minimum Qualifications
