Responsibilities
  • Read repair orders, observe and listen to vehicle operation, obtain diagnostics information, identify root cause malfunctions, plan work procedures, and perform necessary repairs on a vehicle as authorized
  • Perform general and major repair of all truck systems including, engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, HVAC, electronics, and more
  • Perform inspections on equipment; report mechanical issues and problems to shop management
  • Communicate effectively to ensure efficient repair and diesel fleet mechanic performance
  • Ensure parts inventory is adequate to meet repair needs, or report as necessary
  • Mount and dismount tires
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and/or ability to diagnose, repair service and maintain our heavy duty trucks and trailers - suspension/hydraulic system, air brake systems
  • Perform inspections on equipment; report mechanical issues and problems to shop management
  • Communicate effectively to ensure efficient repair and diesel fleet mechanic performance
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but if not able to obtain one at a later date
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Must meet the medical requirements specified by DOT, as applicable
  • Possess basic mechanic tools
