Job summary

Kenosha County is hiring a full-time Mechanic for the Highway Division to maintain a fleet of large trucks and heavy equipment. Training and certification opportunities are provided, including CDL training. Work includes diagnostic work, repairs of engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and routine maintenance.

Overtime may occur and shift premiums apply during winter months. The position emphasizes safety, quality repairs, and the ability to work independently or with others to support

Qualifications

• Mechanic I requires 3 years of additional training in gasoline and diesel engine repair or equivalent experience.
• Mechanic II requires 5+ years of heavy equipment repair experience or related education/certification; ASE recommended.

Responsibilities

• Analyze vehicles/equipment for repairs using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform engine, drivetrain, electrical, hydraulic repairs.
• Conduct routine maintenance and welding/fabrication on vehicles/equipment.
• Repair tires, paint vehicles, and service equipment.
• Order parts and determine equipment operational status.
