Salish Kootenai College seeks an instructor to assist in teaching the basic principles of truck driving, including operating procedures, pre-start checks, maintenance, and safe practices. The role aims to produce entry-level, safety-conscious drivers and requires independent work with minimal supervision.
The candidate must hold a valid Class A CDL with current medical certification; HazMat, tanker endorsements preferred. Strong communication with diverse student groups is essential to success.
Assist in providing instruction for students in the basic principles of truck driving. Operating procedures, proper pre-start procedures, basic preventative maintenance, and safe operating practice. Instruction is intended to produce safe, entry-level drivers. Insure safety of participants and others on projects & work areas. Maintain a safe, clean work environment. Must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications: Class "A" CDL, with current medical certificate. Dbl/tr, tank and Hazmat endorsements preferred. Minimum of 2 years of verifiable driving experience with 5 years preferred. Ability to perform preventative maintenance and field repairs; discuss major repairs with supervisor. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse student populations and fellow employees. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
