Job summary

The CDL School is seeking experienced Class A drivers who want to mentor future professionals entering the trucking industry. This is more than a driving job; it's an opportunity to help students build skills, confidence, and safety habits that will stay with them throughout their careers.

Pay ranges from $21.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on instructor certification level and advancement. The role offers paid instructor development and a structured advancement program with stable year-round

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current CDL A license.
• Minimum 2 years verifiable driving experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mentor CDL students entering trucking industry.
• Teach CDL vehicle inspection, BSL testing, and over-the-road driving skills.
• Develop skills, confidence and safety habits in students.
• Collaborate with training team and provide feedback on trainee progress.
• Identify and report vehicle maintenance deficiencies; perform minor repairs.

Requirements

SKILLS

• Proficient in driving over-the-road, diesel-powered 8 commercial vehicles to include straight-line backing, offset parking, alley-docking, and parallel parking.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend varied and extensive written documents, regulations and reference materials.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
• Ability to utilize computer/tablets in daily operations.
• Ability to teach CDL students to pass vehicle inspection, BSL testing, and over-the-road driving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge and skill to conduct after action reviews of training.
• Identify and report vehicle maintenance deficiencies.
• Conduct minor maintenance repairs.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required

CERTIFICATION

• Current CDL A

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2 years verifiable driving experience, or as required by state licensing agencies. Military experience may be considered as experience.
