Job Overview

A teammate in this position learns the essential functions of the Driver job, including the accurate and timely distribution of products to various customer locations. The Driver Trainee gains exposure to warehouse and other operational functions as part of the developmental process of becoming a McLane Driver.

• Pay Rate: $25.50 an hour while in training.

Essential Job Functions

Training side-by-side with a Driver Trainer to acquire skills in:

• Maneuvering tractor and trailer attachment.
• Operating truck safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Inspecting equipment and submitting DOT reports.
• Using Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) for documentation.
• Gaining knowledge of driving regulations and vehicle handling.
• Maintaining driver logs per DOT regulations.
• Assisting in unloading and delivering products.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

• Preferably have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Complete training and obtain Class A CDL within 6 months.
• Be willing to load, unload, and deliver products.
• Be able to stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks.
• Read labels and bills of lading, perform calculations, and communicate effectively.
• Drive safely and operate related equipment.

Working Conditions

• Environment includes distribution centers, transportation, and customer facilities.
• Conditions may include noise, vehicle vibration, and weather extremes.
• Travel, including overnight, is regular and frequent.
