Job summary

Goodwill Industries of West Michigan, Inc. is seeking a Truck Driver I to transport materials, donations, and salvage between stores and warehouses. The role requires loading/unloading, operating pallet jacks, and maintaining accurate paperwork.

You will perform daily vehicle inspections, document fueling data, and adhere to safety protocols in a dynamic warehouse environment. Qualifications include a GED/diploma, at least 1 year of box truck driving, and a valid driver’s license with insurance.

Qualifications

• GED or diploma required.
• 1 year in Box Truck driving required.
• Valid driver's license and insurance required.
• CDL preferred.
• Powered industrial truck license preferred.
• Valid Non-CDL Class C license required.

Responsibilities

• Logistics: Transport materials, donations, and salvage between stores and warehouses.
• Material Handling: Load/unload trucks with pallet jacks/hand trucks; arrange gaylords/skids and other cargo.
• Assist warehouse staff to prepare loads, maintain documentation, and clean warehouses.
• Vehicle Care: Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance checks.
• Fuels vehicles; record fueling data and submit receipts per policy.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to MDOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
• Follow safety rules; ensure safe operating conditions; wear PPE; keep areas clean.
• Customer Service: Represent Goodwill professionally with donors and staff.
• Follow company policies and instructions; submit reports at end of shift.

• Fuels vehicles, records fueling data on receipts and submits copies in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all MDOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
• Adheres to safety policies regarding handling of equipment and storage of merchandise within specified areas.
• Follows safety rules, ensures safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wears required personal protective equipment and clothing, keeping truck, and loading areas clean and orderly.
• Customer Service: Represent Goodwill professionally when interacting with donors and staff.
• Works from company policies, standards, and instructions, vehicle inspection lists, driver logs, shippers, and other related documentation; submits required reports at the end of each shift.

Physical Environment

• Exposure to dust and debris from donated goods
• 30% outside and 70% inside. Exposure may possibly include extreme cold or heat, noise or vibration and fumes

• Travel within GIWM territory (generally in agency vehicle)
• Ability to work weekends and some holidays
