Salary Schedule

Under direction, the position operates heavy trucks for pick-up, distribution, transport, and delivery of materials for the school district. Employees bring previous experience, can lead work crews, and operate automotive trucks and equipment as per work orders. Responsibilities include transporting waste, debris, sand, dirt, gravel, heavy equipment, concrete, asphalt, and construction materials. The role is physically demanding, requiring dexterity and agility for loading, transferring, and unloading materials. Performs related duties as directed.

Examples Of Essential Functions
  1. Responds to customers courteously, accurately, and empathetically, representing OCPS positively.
  2. Leads work crews in retrieval, removal, loading, and distribution of materials at various sites; loading dump trucks, land clearing, soil and concrete removal, grading, and demolishing structures.
  3. Operates heavy trucks and automotive equipment for transport and delivery of materials and equipment.
  4. Follows safety standards in truck and equipment operation on highways, roads, and school grounds.
  5. Transports items like waste, debris, sand, dirt, gravel, heavy equipment, concrete, asphalt, and construction materials.
  6. Maintains vehicle service records and adheres to maintenance schedules.
  7. Operates various trucks and equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, graders, bulldozers, forklifts, tractors, rollers, bucket trucks, cranes, as assigned.
  8. Performs basic to semi-skilled trades and property maintenance within scope of abilities.
  9. Stays updated on current technology used by OCPS, attending training as needed.
  10. Maintains accurate and timely information related to job responsibilities.

Minimum Training And Experience

High school diploma or GED, with at least 3 years of progressively skilled driving experience operating heavy trucks and automotive equipment, maintaining records, and meeting physical requirements; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must hold a valid commercial driver’s license class “A”.

Physical Ability: Exert very heavy effort, lift up to 100 pounds, and perform tasks involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and carrying heavy objects.

Sensory Requirements: Visual perception and discrimination.

Environmental Factors: Exposure to dirt, dust, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, extreme temperatures, machinery, vibrations, and traffic hazards.
