Salary Schedule

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to operate heavy trucks in the pick-up, distribution, transport, and delivery of various materials for the school district. Employees in this role bring previous experience and may lead work crews in operating automotive trucks and equipment according to work orders. The position involves transporting items such as waste, debris, sand, dirt, gravel, heavy equipment, concrete, asphalt, and construction materials. The duties are physically demanding and require dexterity and agility in loading, transferring, and unloading materials. Performs related work as directed.

Examples of Essential Functions
  1. Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous, and empathetic manner, representing OCPS positively.
  2. Leads work crews engaged in retrieval, removal, loading, and distribution of materials, waste, and debris at various school sites; loading dump trucks, land clearing, soil and concrete removal, grading, and demolition.
  3. Operates heavy trucks and automotive equipment for retrieval, transport, and delivery of materials and equipment.
  4. Observes safety standards during truck and equipment operation on highways, roads, and school grounds.
  5. Transports and delivers items including waste, debris, sand, dirt, gravel, heavy equipment, concrete, asphalt, and construction materials.
  6. Maintains vehicle service records and adheres to preventive maintenance schedules.
  7. Operates various trucks and equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, graders, bulldozers, forklifts, tractors, rollers, bucket trucks, hydraulic cranes.
  8. Performs basic to semi-skilled trades and property maintenance within scope of abilities.
  9. Stays current with technology used by OCPS and attends training as needed.
  10. Maintains accurate and timely information related to job responsibilities.
Minimum Training and Experience

High school diploma or GED, with at least 3 years of progressively skilled driving experience operating heavy trucks and automotive equipment, maintaining records, and meeting physical requirements; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must hold a valid commercial driver’s license class “A”.

ADA Compliance

Physical Ability: Ability to exert very heavy physical effort, including lifting objects up to 100 pounds or more.

Sensory Requirements: Visual perception and discrimination.

Environmental Factors: Exposure to adverse conditions such as dirt, dust, odors, wetness, fumes, noise, machinery, vibrations, and traffic hazards.
