Job Description

This position requires the ability to drive a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). May load and unload vehicle as required. Requires a commercial drivers’ license.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

• Greet customers with respect and courtesy.
• Keep up to date with product inventory and its functionality.
• Ask questions and provide relevant information to customers; list potential purchases to ensure excellent customer service.
• Inspect vehicle to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Follow safety procedures for transporting goods, including load inspection to ensure cargo is secure.
• Secure cargo using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, or covers.
• Read and interpret maps for route planning.
• Position trucks for loading or unloading, following signals and ensuring proper equipment placement.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payments if required.
• Verify load documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Collect and verify delivery instructions and routes.
• Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, cellular phones, driver cameras, and GPS to communicate with bases or other drivers.
• Assist with loading or unloading trucks as needed.
• Maintain proficiency in safety policies and practices.
• Perform other driver-related duties as assigned.
• Adhere to company policies and work requirements.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Ability to read, write, understand, and relay written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate equipment like calculators or scanners.
• Basic mathematical skills for transactions.
• Knowledge of company products, services, and policies.
• Valid "Class-C" driver’s license.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training.
• Two years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically capable of performing job requirements, including manual dexterity, grip strength, depth perception, etc., in compliance with regulations.
• Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment.

Other Requirements

• Pass drug tests, physical capacity assessments, background, and motor vehicle checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting safety standards.
