Position Overview

Drives truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all Department of Transportation requirements including licensing, vehicle inspection, and hours of service.
• Inspect the truck at each workday start, complete the Driver Check-off Sheet indicating all systems functioning.
• Drive truck to location for unloading safely.
• Back the truck under batching or loading hopper to receive concrete.
• Climb the ladder, approximately 10-12 feet, to view concrete load consistency and inspect drum cleanliness.
• Adjust trailer axle pressure based on load weight.
• Follow written and verbal directions, including city street maps and paperwork.
• Maneuver truck to deliver concrete.
• Assemble concrete chute(s) weighing 35-50 pounds each.
• Operate hand and foot controls, understand and follow hand signals.
• Clean truck after loading and delivery to prevent hardening of concrete in mixer and truck.
• Spray truck surfaces with acid compound per company standards.
• Read, understand, and comply with the Safety Manual and Employee Manual.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality each workday.

Qualifications

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with eligibility for interstate commerce per FMCSA regulations.

Work Requirements

• Minimum age 18 years.

• Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to start work at designated time.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures in Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work independently within a team and assist with other duties as needed.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Communicate effectively with customers and employees.
• Perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division up to two-digit numbers and larger using units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements

The employee must stand, walk, sit, use hands and reach, climb or balance, and talk or hear. Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat. Noise level usually moderate.
