Position Overview
Title: CDL – Ready Mix Truck Driver.
The concrete mixer truck driver safely operates a vehicle designed to manufacture, deliver and unload ready‑mixed concrete to customer standard satisfaction. The driver receives direction and work assignments from the dispatcher/plant supervisor, delivers to sites with difficult and congested unloading points, and may be required to maintain truck and plant cleanliness, including shoveling or sweeping. Work hours vary daily according to customer demand for product and services. A minimum of class B CDL will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work safely and efficiently.
- Safely maintain work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
- Comply with all OSHA and USDOT/FMCSA safe‑operating practices.
- Use PPE supplied as directed.
- Operate ready‑mix truck to deliver to construction sites, obeying applicable laws and following dispatch instructions.
- Maintain communication with dispatcher or plant supervisor regarding deliveries; check tickets for special instructions and complete as required.
- Climb 8‑foot ladder to ensure proper materials are loaded safely and obtain required signatures; handle 50‑pound mixer chutes safely; add admixtures to drum when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of truck, including rinsing drum before and after deliveries.
- Collect money from customers and record transactions on receipts.
- Read receipts, write details on tickets, and note customer information.
- Respond to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete instructions.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of vehicle to ensure safe operation and report maintenance or repair issues.
- Utilize tablet or computer skills; follow GPS or map books.
- Perform other functions as necessary or assigned, including truck or plant maintenance, cleanup, sweeping, shoveling, or yard work while maintaining a safe work environment.

- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required.
- Work safely and efficiently without supervision.
- Strict adherence to Central Supply Company policies and procedures.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Willingness to work independently when needed.
- Timely and regular attendance is expected; employees will be held accountable for adhering to their schedule.
Personal Protective Equipment
Individuals must wear personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and/or MSHA. Required PPE may include gloves, hard hat, reflective vest, safety shoes, and seatbelt.
Qualifications
- Valid minimum class B CDL or successful completion of CDL training and examination.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma preferred or equivalent; or minimum one year of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
Language Skills
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
- Perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense to carry out simple instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variables.
Stress Management
- Handle stressful situations when meeting scheduled customer service demands and managing customer complaints during deliveries.
Driver License and Medical Card
- Maintain a valid DOT medical card and a state‑issued commercial driver license.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Operate hands, tools, and controls, and may be required to stand, walk, reach, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
- Possess required visual acuity and depth perception.
Work Environment
- Exposure to wet/humid conditions, extreme heat/cold, outdoors, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and moderate noise.
- Conditions include hot weather, cold weather, wet weather, exposure to noise, exposure to high heat, moving equipment, and working with others.
