Job summary

Commercial Metals seeks a CDL-A truck driver to deliver products to customers and jobsites across the region. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, secure loads, and coordinate with dispatch while adhering to safety and DOT rules.

You will work outdoors in various weather, maintain logs, and operate ELDs. The role requires 1+ year tractor-trailer experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 65 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL required; must be 21+ years old.
• Ability to pass DOT physicals and drug testing.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
• Experience with tractor-trailer operations; flatbed OTR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete delivery paperwork and coordinate with dispatch, sales, and customers.
• Conduct pre-trip, random inspection, and post-trip checks of truck and cargo.
• Deliver products to customers, contractors, and jobsites within the region.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE at all times.
• Inventory and inspect products for quantity and condition.
• Load, secure, and deliver cargo on time and safely.
• Maintain maintenance logs per state/federal regulations.
• Operate vehicles with ELDs and safety dashcams (training provided).
• Perform loading tasks including chaining, strapping, tarping, and trailer hookups.
• Take on additional duties to ensure safe transportation per regulations.
• Work flexible hours based on business needs.

What You'll Do

• Perform additional duties to ensure safe, compliant transportation per federal and state safety regulations
• Work flexible hoursand be available based on business needs

What You'll Need

• Strong verbal communication and listening skills
• Ability to speak and understand English language in verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while giving and receiving feedback
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• No DUI/DWI within the past five years
• At least 1 year of verified tractor-trailer experience (3 years flatbed OTR preferred)
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements
• Ability to pass DOT physicals and drug testing
• No more than one moving violation in the past three years
• Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to changing requirements
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs/ladders, works with chains/strap, performs inspections
