Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a Commercial Driver to support regional deliveries and load handling with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance. The role involves paperwork, pre/post-trip inspections, and delivering products to job sites and customers.

You will operate trucks with ELDs and safety dashcams, maintain logs, and coordinate with dispatch. Requires valid CDL-A, 21+ years old, and at least 1 year of tractor-trailer experience; outdoors in all weather, with physical

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to speak and understand English language in verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while giving and receiving feedback.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • No DUI/DWI within the past five years.
  • At least 1 year of verified tractor-trailer experience (3 years flatbed OTR preferred).
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to pass DOT physicals and drug testing.
  • No more than one moving violation in the past three years.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs/ladders, works with chains/strap, performs inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Complete delivery paperwork and communicate load or timing issues with dispatch, sales, and customers.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip, inter-trip, and post-trip inspections of truck and cargo.
  • Deliver products to customers, contractors, and jobsites within the region.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE.
  • Inventory and inspect products to confirm quantity and condition.
  • Load, secure, and deliver cargo safely and on time.
  • Maintain vehicle service and repair logs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Operate vehicles using Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) and safety dashcams (training provided).
  • Perform loading tasks including chaining, strapping, tarping, trailer hooking/unhooking, use of sideboard kits and safely ascending/descending of truck and/or trailer.
  • Perform additional duties to ensure safe, compliant transportation per federal and state safety regulations.
  • Work flexible hours and be available based on business needs.
