The Salvation Army is seeking a Truck Driver for local routes in Memphis. This role involves operating a heavy-duty truck, ensuring safe and efficient pickups, and maintaining the vehicle. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and knowledge of the local area, with a focus on safety and organization.

Responsible for knowing the geographical area assigned and operating the vehicle within state/federal statutes and guidelines. Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public. Acquire pick-up tickets and complete routes efficiently. Load donations in an organized manner to maximize pickups and minimize damage. Clean and secure the vehicle, conduct daily inspections of oil, water, tires, and other vehicle components to maintain good condition.
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required. At least one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the necessary skills and knowledge.
Must meet attendance requirements. Capable of reading maps or handwritten directions. Communicate effectively in English. Work positively with various personalities. Drive a heavy-duty truck following DOT regulations and safety standards. Physically capable of sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 100 lbs. 25-50% of work involves outdoor driving and exposure to the elements.
