Job summary

Pennsylvania Counseling Services, Inc. seeks a Truancy Mentor to work within Check & Connect, an evidence-based program focused on preventing truancy and keeping students engaged in their education.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding students back on the path to success. As a Truancy Mentor, you will work directly with students to encourage attendance, monitor attendance, and collaborate with school staff and partners to develop effective interventions, including home

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid driver's license and car insurance
  • PA State Police Criminal History Check
  • FBI Criminal Background Check completed through the Department of Human Services
  • PA Childline Abuse History Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Seasonal position: if hired for the full school year you could earn 258 summer paid time off hours; plus have the potential for an additional 120 hours of summer paid time off

  • Overtime hours available to enhance pay

Description

Are you passionate about helping students succeed in school? We are seeking a Truancy Mentor to work within Check & Connect, an evidence-based program focused on preventing truancy and keeping students engaged in their education. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding students back on the path to success.


What You’ll Do

As a Truancy Mentor, you will:



  • Work directly with students to encourage school attendance and engagement.

  • Monitor attendance and follow up with students and families to address concerns.

  • Collaborate with school staff and community partners to develop effective intervention strategies.

  • Serve as a mentor, advocate, and service coordinator to help students overcome challenges.

  • Conduct home visits to stay connected with families and provide ongoing support.
