Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, Virginia is seeking a Process Engineer - TRISO Fuels to support development and fabrication of uranium-based TRISO fuel.

You will provide technical leadership for the assigned process, resolve fabrication issues, and drive process improvements on the shop floor. Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical, materials, or mechanical engineering, experience with ceramic powder manufacturing equipment, strong communication skills, and US citizenship with the ability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, materials, or mechanical engineering required.
• Experience with design, refurbishment and/or deployment of ceramic powder manufacturing equipment (furnaces, size classification, chemical reactors).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven success leading in a team environment.
• Experience authoring technical reports.
• Self-motivated with initiative and minimal supervision.
• Able to lead multi-disciplined teams.
• U.S. citizen; ability to obtain/maintain DOE clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for development and fabrication of Uranium Based TRISO Fuel.
• Support production operations as the technical lead for the assigned process.
• Assist in shop floor issue resolution and implement process improvements.
• Prepare operating procedures and shop floor routings.
• Assist in equipment designs and fabrication methods for uranium-based fuels.
• Create training plans and write operating procedures for shop floor personnel.
• Participate in training activities.
• Follow BWXT change management and Safety Evaluation processes.
• Evaluate data to determine efficiencies and recommend improvements.
