Job description

Responsible for facilitating the coordination and development of various initiatives and projects within the Office of Spiritual Development (OSD).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, coordinate, and manage assigned group travel programs (domestic or international) from concept through completion.
  • Collaborate with faculty, campus departments, and ministry partners to develop meaningful trip itineraries that support academic, missional, and service-learning goals.
  • Research and evaluate potential destinations, ministry partners, host organizations, and travel vendors for mission fit, safety, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure all assigned travel programs meet university risk, safety, and liability policies.
  • Coordinate and confirm liability waivers, insurance coverage, medical forms, and pre-trip safety protocols.
  • Work with supervisor and team to develop post-trip debriefing experiences to support reflection, learning, and spiritual growth.
  • Work with Operations and logistics team to oversee trip budgets, cost estimates, and financial tracking to ensure accurate and transparent accounting.
  • Coordinate participant registration, payments, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all trip details, logistics, ministry and organizations, vendors, contracts, and faculty and student information.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with travel providers, mission partners, local churches, NGOs, and academic departments.
  • Develop group travel experiences that foster academic enrichment, spiritual discipleship, cultural intelligence, and global engagement.
  • Uphold LU Send policies, procedures, and deadlines in the coordination of trip budgets, itineraries, and applicant requirements.
  • On occasion, participate in scouting trip locations and serve as a leader of group trips as needed.
  • Promote active and broad participation by faculty, staff, and students in all areas of the department’s work.
  • Assist in the planning, coordinating, and execution of all department events and opportunities as directed.
  • Remain well-informed of all leading technologies, processes, and engagement for best hospitality, communications, and event management.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • Education and Experience
  • Four-year college degree
  • Two+ years in a travel logistics, international service function or experience facilitating student travel
  • Mature business communication skills
  • Preferred Experience
  • A professional concentration or certificate in travel/tourism
  • Experience working with University and Higher-education faculty
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
  • Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates. Strong organizational skills. Computer skills, especially Microsoft office; ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Physical and Sensory Abilities Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations. Occasional international or domestic travel may be required. Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business. Regularly lift 25 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.

Driving Requirements Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required. There will be occasional travel required to on-campus, local, and domestic locations. Occasional international travel.

Time Type Full time Location Onsite Pay Range Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance. $44,000.00 - $50,000.00
