Job summary

FRCC's TRIO Student Support Services Counselor at the Westminster Campus will support student success by removing barriers and implementing retention strategies aligned with equity and inclusion.

You will provide wraparound academic, career, and financial guidance to first-generation, low-income, or disabled students, developing individualized plans and coaching to help them complete their degree and transfer goals. Occasional remote work is possible with campus presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field.
• Two years experience working with students in an educational setting (higher education preferred).
• Experience with students from underrepresented populations (first‑generation, limited‑income, disabilities).
• Ability to support and advance FRCC’s equity and inclusion commitments.
• Strong written and oral communication, including public presentations.
• Ability to relate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the larger community.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support services to TRIO SSS participants.
• Provide workshops and group sessions for career planning and financial literacy.
• Maintain accurate confidential student records for program objectives.
• Assist with recruitment and outreach efforts for TRIO SSS participants.
• Collaborate with FRCC staff, faculty, and partners to promote retention and success.
• Provide ongoing training to FRCC staff regarding TRIO program services.
