  • Support the implementation of comprehensive and cohesive strategies for engaging with our Tribal Nation partners/clients, coordinate relationship‑building, and bolster our reputation as a trusted ally. This will include leading and assisting with writing project proposals.
  • Implement transparent and consistent communications with Tribal governments and Indigenous Communities on housing, gaming, recreational, agricultural, brownfields, renewable energy, and other environmental projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • The selected candidate will manage Tribal environmental projects.
  • Assist in data gathering, write/review sections for CEQA/NEPA documents, assist with preparing permit applications, coordinate with consultants and project team members, and interface with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Planning, executing, and/or overseeing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation, and/or site‑specific reuse and/or area‑wide planning/design activities.
  • Assisting with project fieldwork throughout Alaska and other states, including site reconnaissance, brownfield inventories, soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water and other media sampling, and remediation at various locations.
  • Collecting field data in an organized and concise manner, consistent with corporate and client standard operating procedures and work plans.
  • Grant application support, including assisting senior grant writers with preparing and submitting grant applications.
Your Expertise and Skills
  • College/University degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Planning, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Law or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience planning, executing, and/or overseeing Phase I/II ESAs, remediation, and/or site‑specific reuse and/or area‑wide Planning activities.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a consultant with a specific emphasis on federal and Tribal regulatory experience.
  • Experience with multi‑media sampling (i.e., soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, sediment, etc.).
  • Experience with project management and technical responsibility, including leadership of others and management level accountability.
  • NEPA experience managing EAs and/or EISs and working with Tribal Nations for Fee‑to‑Trust applications and projects.
  • Strong client‑facing skills (relationship building, communication, problem solving).
  • Direct experience and knowledge of environmental regulations, assisting in research for NEPA and CEQA planning documents, and preparing or assisting in the preparation of technical sections for NEPA documents and environmental permits (CWA 404/401).
  • Demonstrated experience working with Tribal Nations and addressing complex issues across multiple agencies, business lines, client types and geographies.
