Job summary

The Kaw Nation Administration in Kaw City, OK seeks an Executive Director to lead the tribal government as its senior administrative officer. You will translate approved policy into effective operations, manage the budget, and improve services for Kaw citizens.

Reporting to the Tribal Chair, you will supervise department directors, guide strategic implementation, and ensure governance aligns with sovereignty, culture, and law. Evening or weekend duties may be required to support operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public administration, business administration, tribal governance, finance or related field.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible management experience, including supervising managers or multiple departments.
• Knowledge of tribal governmental structures, sovereignty, and government-to-government relations.
• Experience budgeting, financial oversight, federal program or grant administration, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Implement tribal resolutions, approved budgets, and directives as communicated by the Tribal Chair.
• Provide timely recommendations, operational reports, and financial information to the Tribal Chair and Tribal Council.
• Supervise and evaluate department directors and managers; ensure service quality and ethical conduct.
• Lead development of the consolidated tribal government budget and monitor financial performance.
• Coordinate intergovernmental relations and protect tribal sovereignty in governance matters.
