Job summary

Volunteers of America Western Washington is seeking a Tribal Crisis Counselor to provide crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and supportive counseling to American Indian and Alaska Native clients via a call center. You will conduct assessments, ensure culturally relevant support, and document interactions precisely.

The role emphasizes collaboration with a Native population and requires experience in mental health, strong communication, and the ability to mentor colleagues while supporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a mental health position.
  • Direct experience working within a Tribal community.
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration required within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and supportive counseling to Native clients via telephone call center.
  • Conduct client assessments in accordance with regional and program policies.
  • Manage client interactions to ensure culturally relevant support and documentation.
  • Mentor and coach new staff and participate in ongoing staff development
