Blitt and Gaines, P.C. is a leading debt collection law firm with 30+ years of experience representing major financial institutions. The Associate Attorney will gain extensive courtroom experience through regular appearances, review claims and pleadings, manage a contested litigation queue, and support all aspects of the litigation process.

This role has no billable hour requirements. Juris Doctorate and Kansas bar admission are required; additional licenses in other states are valuable.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and Kansas bar admission.
• Licenses in additional states are valuable: Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Tennessee, or Wisconsin.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with Collection Master or equivalent case management systems preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Appear in court on behalf of the firm a minimum of three days per week.
• Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
• Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
• Occasionally draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
• Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.
• Manage telephonic and written communication with opposing counsel.
• Prepare and respond to discovery or oversee counterclaims involving the firm or its clients.
