Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company invites an experienced Trial Attorney to join its National Trial Division. This role supports civil litigation defense and subrogation for property and casualty insurance, handling a diverse caseload across jurisdictions as lead or co-counsel.

The successful candidate will collaborate with claims teams to deliver strategic, analytically sound outcomes while upholding Nationwide’s standards of service and integrity.

Qualifications

• Requires Juris Doctor degree and active license in the state of practice.
• Extensive civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates trial advocacy skills independently as lead or part of a team.
• Performs with minimal oversight from Managing Trial Attorney and NTD Leadership.
• Uses technology and works with staff to ensure efficient case management.
• Keeps abreast of changes in law, rules, and technology affecting liability and recovery litigation.
• Develops subject matter expertise for specialized NTD concentrations to serve as lead counsel on complex cases.
• Provides analytically sound opinions on case valuations and communicates updates to clients and claims teams.
• Builds relationships with claims managers and colleagues to reinforce NTD's reputation.
• Communicates effectively in verbal, written, and client meeting formats; meets client and internal expectations.
• Shows commitment to professional development and collaboration within the NTD team.
