Job summary

The Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General’s Trial Division in Boston seeks an Assistant Attorney General to represent the Commonwealth in civil litigation, draft pleadings, conduct discovery, take depositions, argue motions, and try cases in state and federal courts. The role combines courtroom advocacy with strategic legal work.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
• At least five (5) years of civil litigation experience in areas such as tort, contracts, land use, eminent domain, civil rights, or employment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience managing a large and varied caseload, preferred.
• Must have access to reliable transportation; travel to various courts and client locations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Represent and defend the Commonwealth in civil lawsuits across diverse topics.
• Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, and argue dispositive motions.
• Try cases in superior and federal courts.
• Maintain an active caseload and support a respectful, inclusive work environment.
