Job summary

The Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General seeks an Assistant Attorney General in the Trial Division (Boston Office) to represent the Commonwealth in civil litigation, draft pleadings, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, and argue dispositive motions in state and federal courts.

Requirements include Massachusetts bar admission, at least five years in civil litigation (preferred areas include tort, contracts, land use, civil rights, or employment), strong written and oral

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience managing a large and varied caseload.
• Travel may be required to various courts and locations; access to transportation.

Responsibilities

• Represent and defend the Commonwealth in civil lawsuits, including tort, contract, land use, civil rights, and employment.
• Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, and argue dispositive motions.
• Try cases in superior and federal courts.
