Job summary

Together Women’s Health, in collaboration with OBGYN South, seeks a full-time Triage Registered Nurse to join the Homewood, AL team. The RN will assess patients, prioritize care by urgency, and coordinate care with physicians and staff.

Required: Alabama RN or LPN license and BLS; Athena EMR and OB/GYN experience are highly preferred as you support clinical operations and patient management.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold an Alabama RN or LPN license.
• BLS certification is required.
• Athena EMR experience and OB/GYN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs telephone triage, patient education, and handles physician/pharmacy calls.
• Completes paperwork such as refilling medications and ordering tests.
• Assesses patients to determine priority and refers for emergency care as needed.
• Counsels patients on lifestyle, medications, and potential interactions.
• Schedules follow-ups, tests, and pre-operative activities.
• Coordinates tests/procedures with clinical staff and informs patients of results.
• Develops onboarding documents and supports clinical staff training.
• Provides nurse support to providers during clinic days.

Overview

OBGYN South, a practice partner of Together Women's Health, is seeking a full-time Triage Registered Nurse (RN) to join their growing team!

As an experienced practitioner, the Triage Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, determining the severity of patients conditions, and prioritizing care based on the urgency of symptoms.

Applicants with Athena EMR and/or OB/GYN experience will be given priority.

Responsibilities

• Performs telephone triage, patient education, handling of physician phone calls, pharmacy calls; may assist by calling to set up appointments or arrange hospital tests or admissions
• Completes paperwork such as refilling medication, ordering lab tests, x-rays, school/work notes, FMLA, etc.
• Assessing patients and determining priority and referring for emergency care
• Counsels’ patients concerning lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using an appropriate psychosocial communication level
• Communicates to patients and office coordinators follow-up appointments, ancillary and/or pre-operative testing and scheduling needed for patient
• Coordinates ordering of tests/procedures with other clinical staff
• Respond to patient questions and concerns as liaison between physician and patient
• Developing office protocols and training documents to support on boarding of clinical staff
• Reports all test results to the patient as directed by the physician
• Provides clinical nurse support to providers and clinical medical staff during active clinic days

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
• State of Alabama RN or LPN License required
• BLS certification required
• At least one year of working experience as an RN or LPN perferred, but not required
• Athena EMR experience highly preferred
• OB/GYN experience preferred
