Job summary

Atlanta GYN & OB is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Triage Nurse to assess patient needs by phone and in-office, prioritizing urgency and providing clinical guidance in a private practice setting.

You'll support physicians and midwives, ensuring timely, patient-centered care and accurate EMR documentation while coordinating same-day visits and education on prenatal and gynecologic care.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license in GA or registration as Medical Assistant.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience in OB/GYN or related field.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using EMR systems (Athena, eClinicalWorks, Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform telephone triage for OB/GYN patients and assess urgency.
• Provide clinical guidance per protocols and provider directions.
• Document all patient interactions accurately in the EMR.
• Coordinate same-day appointments, urgent visits, and follow-ups.
• Communicate with physicians, midwives, and clinical staff about patient concerns.
• Manage prescription refills and lab result notifications as directed.
• Educate patients on prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic care.
• Identify emergencies and direct to appropriate care (ER, L&D).
• Assist with referrals, imaging, and specialty services.

Job Summary

The OB/GYN Triage Nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs via phone and in-office communication, prioritizing care based on urgency, and providing clinical guidance to obstetric and gynecologic patients. This role supports physicians and advanced providers by ensuring timely, efficient, and patient-centered care in a private practice setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform telephone triage for OB and GYN patients, assessing symptoms and determining appropriate level of care
• Provide clinical advice and education based on established protocols and provider guidance
• Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Coordinate same-day appointments, urgent visits and follow-ups as needed
• Communicate effectively with physicians, midwives, and other clinical staff regarding patient concerns
• Manage prescription refills and lab result notifications per provider instructions
• Educate patients on prenatal care, postpartum care, gynecologic conditions, medications, and procedures
• Identify emergency situations and direct patients to appropriate care (e.g., ER, labor & delivery)
• Assist with care coordination, including referrals, imaging and specialty services
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in GA or Registered Medical Assistant
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience (OB/GYN, women's health, or labor & delivery preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Athena, eClinicalWorks, Epic) preferred
• Ability to multitask and manage high call volumes in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• OB/GYN or women's health experience
• Familiarity with triage protocols (e.g., ACOG guidelines)
• BLS certification (required); ACLS or NRP (preferred, if applicable)

Work Environment

• Private OB/GYN practice setting
• Primarily office-based with frequent phone triage responsibilities
• May involve occasional patient-facing clinical support
