Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Triage Nurse for the Glenview clinic. This full-time role (40 hours/week) follows a 8:30am-5pm schedule on Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri and 9am-5:30pm on Tue. You will triage patients, document in EMR, and coordinate visits with providers.

The ideal candidate is an RN with 3+ years in hospital or outpatient settings, IL license, and BLS CPR. Spanish speaking and BSN are preferred. Benefits and compliance with all NM policies are provided.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited RN program.
• At least 3 years of experience in a hospital or outpatient setting.
• Current Registered Nurse License issued by State of Illinois.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Triage all incoming telephone calls and electronic messages.
• Document all communications in the electronic medical record.
• Schedule patient for visit with provider when telephone assessment indicates this.
• Assist in obtaining appointment for patients with specialists within NM.
• Coordinate emergency and hospital transfers, including paperwork and telephone communications.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with Nursing Standards and as ordered by the provider.
• Provide education to patients and staff concerning clinical issues.
• Assist in coordinating and monitoring activities of clinical staff to ensure adequate coverage and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Assist in orientation of new staff members.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
• For triage nurses in the ICC, float to other ICCs/departments.
