Job summary

The City of Columbia SC is seeking a skilled tree maintenance worker to prune and remove trees in city rights-of-way and on city properties. The role involves heavy lifting and operating bucket trucks, felling equipment, and power tools as required to complete assigned duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, prior related experience, and valid SC driver’s licenses with a plan to upgrade to Class B within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Some relevant prior experience is required.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License is required; must obtain Class B within one year of hire/promotion.

Responsibilities

• Prunes or removes trees in City rights-of-way and other properties as directed.
• Operate trucks, bucket truck, chain saws, wood chippers, stump grinders and related equipment.
• Load/unload materials; clean debris from work sites.
