Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC seeks a Trimmer/Climber to trim and remove trees, operate trucks and equipment, and maintain tools in Durham, NC. You will work outdoors, often at heights, and follow safety protocols to protect crew and the public.

Entry-level friendly with reliance on physical fitness and willingness to train. The role is full-time, non-exempt, with competitive hourly pay and benefits including health insurance and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
• Walk, climb and work from ladders or at various heights on uneven surfaces.
• No fear of heights.
• Good hand-to-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Trim and/or remove trees, branches, trunk sections.
• Operate and service all required tools/equipment.
• Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces.
• Spray areas with equipment to prevent regrowth.
• Load/unload trucks.
• Feed brush and debris into a woodchipper.
• Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
• Service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools.
• Relay hand signals, direct traffic, drive trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Keep trucks and work areas clear and orderly.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in the work area.
• Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets.
• Set up barriers and warning signs to protect people.
• Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools and equipment.
