Job summary

Ogden City Government's Public Services department seeks a Maintenance Technician I - Forestry to assist with planting, maintenance, removal, and delivery of trees and vegetation on city property under supervision.

The role involves operating aerial lifts, stump grinders, and other equipment; performing pruning, storm response, and trail maintenance; requires a high school diploma and Utah licenses within six months of hire, plus safety training.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in arboriculture, property maintenance, trail maintenance, or related work.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Assist in trimming, raising, and dead wooding trees for safety and aesthetics.
• Assist in removal of dead and hazardous trees, including herbicide application and stump grinding.
• Create work orders and update Tree Inventory Program; maintain inventory information.
• Operate equipment such as aerial lifts, stump grinders, chemical sprayers, chainsaws, trucks, loaders, and backhoes.
• Assist citizens at the city tree nursery and educate on planting, maintenance, and selection.
