Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security is seeking a Groundhand to perform heavy physical duties on a variety of tasks within a tree crew environment. You will haul brush and wood, assist the tree climber, use ropes and power tools, and help keep the job site clean.

You will work with takedown crews to ensure good communication and function as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.

Qualifications

• Must perform heavy physical duties across tasks.
• Experience in tree crew operations preferred.
• Driver license or state ID and social security card required.

Responsibilities

• Haul brush and wood from the tree to the truck, assisting the tree climber, using ropes, various hand and power tools, and cleaning the job site.
• Work with takedown crews to ensure good communication between the crew.
• Function as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment as needed on jobsite.
• Maintain issued personal gear, crew gear, and equipment
